'This is very good Bwana IG but we hope this is not the beginning of the formation of a NEW special Unit loyal to the new Regime," he stated. “All officers serving in the disbanded unit have been recalled to DCI headquarters for further instructions,” said a statement from the DCI. The DCI Special Service Unit (SSU) was formed on December 31, 2019 after Flying Squad was disbanded by former DCI boss George Kinoti. At the same time, the Special Crime Prevention Unit (SCPU) was renamed and scaled down to a smaller unit only based at the DCI headquarters in Nairobi.
