While the ABS and the government promised that the census data would be safe and "de-identified", experts are now poking holes in that statement. Names of individuals in the census will be obfuscated using so-called Statistical Linkage Keys (SLKs) which can be used across multiple data sets. The idea is that the more data sets you can link and compare, the greater the insight.
