A judge’s decision on the legality of Premier Doug Ford’s cut to Toronto city council is expected Monday morning. A judge will rule Monday on whether Ford’s plan to cut Toronto city council almost in half is legal; a spokesman said Tory was looking forward to the decision. ( Lucas Oleniuk / Toronto Star )The decision will either allow a 25-ward election to continue, as Ford’s majority PC government approved, or strike down the legislation, reviving a 47-ward election as approved by city council in 2016. Either way, an appeal to a higher court is expected, which would leave the Oct. 22 election still uncertain. The province has argued the city is a “creature” of the province and that nothing was unlawful about the legislation.
