Supporters of Obama’s directive also questioned how a district judge in Wichita Falls, Texas, could issue a blanket injunction for the entire U.S. when higher courts elsewhere have upheld transgender rights. The ruling does not prohibit schools that allow transgender students to use the facilities of their choice from continuing to do so. “I think today is going to be a hard day for transgender students,” Castillo said.
