The order by the chamber judge came after the Election Commission filed a petition to the Appellate Division challenging the High Court decision. Returning officers had rejected their applications for the 11th parliamentary election on the context of their prison sentences. Tuku and Dulu challenged the decisions but the Election Commission upheld the returning officers’ decision after a review. The High Court also ordered the EC to accept their nominations. On Tuesday, Justice Hasan Foez Siddique, the chamber judge, suspended the High Court order after hearing the petition.
