Balambala MP Abdikadir Aden now claims there is a sinister motive behind the involvement of chiefs in the ongoing mass voter registration. Aden, who was reacting to a recent visit by President Uhuru Kenyatta in Garissa, yesterday alleged that the government is using chiefs and their assistants in mobilising voters and later use them to rig the August elections. The President directed local administrators to look for residents, the majority pastoralists,and ensure they are all registered as voters. This is a clear indication that the government wants to rig these elections,” Aden said. During the Visit, Uhuru said the recently launched livestock offtake program will help pastoralists affected by the drought to destock.
