Jubilee to iron out party issues after merger stalemate


The retreat starting today will develop legal mechanisms for the Jubilee Alliance to be dissolved and the Jubilee Party formed. The Jubilee Alliance heads to its second retreat this month amid a stalemate on dissolving affiliate parties, following pertinent issues raised by individuals and the parties. He told the Star there are pertinent issues to be discussed but everyone will have a chance to raise concerns. The Star established that the issues being addressed include the role of current party officials in the new Jubilee Party, constitutional requirements of individual parties and nomination rules for a smooth transition. “When we have people talking and raising issues to be discussed it means that we have democracy and we expect to address the issues raised on Monday so we can have a final constitution,” Maathai said.
