A web and mobile App platform that connects informal workers (Juakali) to prospective employers has launched in Nairobi. Dubbed Ujuzy, the platform enables homeowners to order for the services of plumbers, painters, electricians, and carpenters from among those who have listed their services with the platform through a simple tap on their smartphones. According to Ujuzy managing director Kimani Gitau, the app is meant to bridge the gap between service providers and those seeking services, hence convenience. Already at least 2,000 professionals in plumbing, hairdressing, carpentry, building, construction, tailoring, satellite installation/servicing, tiling, painting, and electricians have already listed their services with Ujuzy. To register or request a service, users can download the Ujuzy App in the Google App Store.
