She has great parents who instilled an "iron sharpens iron" mindset. Edwards says she probably would not be coming to USC if she had not been rejected by the Team USA U-17 team last year. Her parents convinced her to try out. Even if she did not make the team she would learn something. That is the attitude Edwards now takes about going to USC and just competing and learning rather than worrying about minutes.
