The Supreme Court also asked the lower court of Sirajganj to dispose of the case within six months. On November 4, the High Court granted bail to Halimul Haque Miru. Earlier on February 2, 2017, journalist Shimul was shot during a clash between a Chhatra League faction and Shahjadpur mayor Halimul Haque Miru's supporters. Later, Shimul's wife Nurun Nahar filed a case accusing 18 people including Miru.
