Playing in front of the home fans in Arlington, Texas, the United States women’s national volleyball team opened the second round of Volleyball Nations League preliminary play with a 3-1 (25-22, 25-17, 23-25, 25-20) victory against Canada on Tuesday night. The Americans, which improved to 3-2 in the tournament, will play Bulgaria (0-4) on Friday. Outside hitter Kathryn Plummer played her first matches this summer and scored a team-high 16 points on 14 kills and two blocks. Outside hitter Jordan Larson (12 kills, two blocks, one ace serve) and right-side hitter Jordan Thompson (13 kills, one block, one ace) each contributed 15 points. The U.S team will use the four-week tournament to help determine the Olympic team roster for later this summer.
