The queen of Jordan, Rania Al Abdullah, is scheduled to visit Rohingya refugees at the Kutupalong Refugee Camp and its surrounding areas in Cox’s Bazar Cox’s Bazar on Monday. The Jordanian Queen’s visit is also aimed at underscoring the urgent need for a dramatic increase in humanitarian assistance for this vulnerable population, said a media advisory of the UN refugee agency. She is expected to meet Rohingya women and children, who recently crossed the border from Myanmar, and see some of the emergency services offered by the IRC, UNHCR, UNICEF, and other humanitarian agencies to the Rohingya. Ending the visit, the queen will make a press statement, the advisory added. Since late August, more than 580,000 Rohingya refugees, mostly women and children, have arrived in Cox’s Bazar, marking the largest mass refugee influx in the region in decades and a major humanitarian crisis.
