Local health workers don’t know who is isolating and can’t check on them. And families in a city like Leicester desperate for a holiday still don’t know when the restrictions on ‘non-essential’ travel will be lifted. We don’t yet know how long coronavirus will be a part of our lives. But it is clear that the government’s haphazard approach to living with it won’t do. It’s long overdue that they got a proper grip and gave the public the clarity and security they deserve.
