JOHOR BARU: Johor government will look at strengthening the affordable housing scheme where some 60,000 homes would be built by 2020. “Johor is able to build many of such (affordable) homes compared to other states due to the cooperation between the government and developers in which the houses are subsidised. “The state government will give priority to those in the waiting list to get the affordable homes because houses are a basic need of the rakyat,” he added. “Affordable houses should not be sold where if the owners sell it, they will be following the market price and, thus, double their profit,” he said. He said the state government was looking at the possibility of seizing such homes from the “qualified” owners.
