JOHOR BARU: A police corporal has been detained for allegedly requesting and accepting a bribe from a religious teacher. The 49-year-old suspect, attached to the Criminal Investigation Department of the Kulai district police headquarters, was believed to have requested the bribe on Dec 3 and received some RM3,000 on Dec 6. The suspect was detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) at a workshop on Dec 6 at around 9.30pm. Following the arrest, the MACC had conducted raids at two separate locations in the state and seized an account and documents related to the case. Johor MACC director Datuk Azmi Alias confirmed the arrest, saying the suspect would be brought to court to be remanded.
