Keanu Reeves managed to make the original a bearably enjoyable action flick, although the stylish and well-executed mayhem had much to do with it being quite watchable. Perhaps it was his ability to emote, considering the tragic (though unexplained) death of his wife. This time, Reeves has less opportunity to do much more than scowl a lot and has a bit more actual dialogue (as in slightly longer sentences). Then we meet the newest villain, an Italian mafia type with a serious case of sibling rivalry who insists that Wick fulfil the obligations of a bloodstained marker. But Santino (played by Riccardo Scarmacio) makes for a lame adversary, a fashion-conscious dandy who isn’t terribly menacing.
