John Swinney has denied his cash-strapped party has used taxpayer cash to fight its General Election campaign after being dragged into a probe into the use of stamps. Mr Swinney said he had been told by staff there had been no use of the allowance for SNP campaigning. “What’s important is the reassurance that I’ve had that parliamentary stamps have not been used for election purposes,” he said.
