Controversial former Conservative Party board member John Stringer is considering throwing his hat in the ring to vie for the Rangitata seat in the general election. The Christchurch-based businessman has had a chequered political career, having clashed with former Conservative Party leader Colin Craig. The pair later wound up in court, with Craig suing Stringer over allegedly defamatory comments made by Stringer on television and in his blog. Stringer resigned from the Conservative Party board in 2015.
