Concerned that the federal Tory leadership race might become a contest between one Red Tory retread insider from Eastern Canada, John Baird is pondering leaping into the fray. Bringing with him “true blue” beliefs that are, one gathers, firm but flexible. ‘In a big tent Conservative party, that’s what we do,’ she said.” And “big tent” is (a) code for left-wing; (b) a circus act whose clowns no longer draw a crowd; or (c) both. Ah, but Baird wants a “vision that can appeal to people in the suburbs of every city in this country. Has this veteran “heavyweight” fiscal conservative a plan for unfunded public pension liabilities?
