John Ngumi is the new Safaricom Board chairman. Source: UGCNgumi will take over from Michael Joseph, who has been holding the position since long-serving chairman Nicholas Ng'ang'a retired in 2020. "Ngumi currently serves as board chair at the Industrial & Commercial Development Corporation (ICDC), which is leading the effort to implement the Kenya Transport & Logistics Network, encompassing Kenya Ports Authority, Kenya Pipeline Company Limited and Kenya Railways Corporation. Besides ICDC, he chaired boards of Kenya Pipeline Corporation and Konza Technopolis Development Authority. Michael Joseph had been working in an acting capacity since the death of Bob Collymore on Monday, July 1, 2019.
