Chairman Sharon White said: "There is no getting away from the fact that some areas can no longer profitably sustain a John Lewis store. At the time, bosses confirmed eight John Lewis stores and four Waitrose outlets would not reopen to the public. On Thursday, it said the plan could include more "smaller service stores" - local shops that showcase the very best of John Lewis. Full list of John Lewis stores already closing down
