An election over the throne speech seems unlikely – it is hard to see how the NDP could vote against such largesse. But it will create an opportunity for the Conservatives to draw a stark contrast with the free-spending Liberals. COVID has created real problems that have not yet been addressed by the Liberals. The economy will survive another surge of spending, as long as economic growth outpaces interest rates.
