NDP Leader John Horgan, who ìs in line to become the province's next premier, will react to the federal announcement of an $867 million assistance package for the softwood lumber industry. The money was announced Thursday by Natural Resources Minister Jim Carr as a response to softwood lumber tariffs recently imposed by the United States which could have serious impacts on British Columbia's lumber industry. The package includes a series of loans and loan guarantees that will work in concert with provincial efforts to support the industry.
