The 66-year-old was arrested in Donegal today in a joint operation involving An Garda Siochana and the PSNI. The two UDR soldiers were killed after a device exploded in a car they were checking in Enniskillen in 1972. He had previously faced trial for the murders of four soldiers in the 1982 Hyde Park bombings. But, it collapsed because of a secret letter that he had received from the government guaranteeing him that he would not face trial. “The PSNI investigation into these murders remains active.”
