Capitals Coach Barry Trotz said Carlson will travel to Pittsburgh for the team’s game there Monday night, and it’s “possible” he’ll play. [Capitals score four goals early in third period to beat Flyers for ninth straight win]Carlson left practice early Thursday afternoon, and the team said he was being evaluated for a lower-body injury. With him not on the ice, Matt Niskanen manned the top power play unit, and defenseman Nate Schmidt was on the second unit Sunday afternoon against Philadelphia.
