The 17-year-old was running the stairs between Shakespeare Rd and Bay View Rd at about 6.30pm on Wednesday when she was targeted. Police said a man wearing a dark hoodie grabbed the teen and pulled her towards him. The man is described as approximately 185cm tall and of solid build.
