Former Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt is set to join the All Blacks as a selector, according to the country’s media this morning. A report in Stuff.co.nz is reporting that Schmidt is to take the selector role following the departure of Grant Fox. Schmidt led Ireland to the top of the World Rugby rankings in 2018, twice helping them to wins over the All Blacks. Fox had already signalled he would leave his role after the Rugby World Cup in 2019 but was persuaded to stay on by head coach Ian Foster. Schmidt has been the director of rugby and high performance at World rugby recently.
