Joe Maddon is in the final season of his $6 million per year contract with the Chicago Cubs. And no matter how things turn out this year, it’s safe to say he’s the best manager in franchise history. Of course, if the 15-12 Cubs flounder toward the All-Star break, there’s no guarantee that Maddon will even finish the season. He’s the only manager who led a talented team to break the dreaded Curse of the Billy Goat. And so, it’s not a stretch to call him the greatest manager in Cubs history.
