Cole, the former Chelsea and Liverpool midfielder, feels the Germany international can exploit Pep Guardiola’s system with his intelligent runs in behind and cause the City defence serious problems. Werner has struggled to find the back of the net regularly in the Premier League this season but he’s been more successful in cup competitions and has scored four goals in the Champions League for the Blues. And Cole feels Werner will prove key to Thomas Tuchel’s chances of beating City three times in a row when they meet in the Champions League final. ‘Going against Werner is all wrong for the way Pep [Guardiola, Man City manager] plays, no system is impenetrable,’ Cole told Goal.
