Biden was never a fan of aggressive approaches to school integration, especially mandatory busing of schoolchildren to other school districts that have a different racial makeup than their own. Because housing is still widely segregated, busing without crossing school districts is very unlikely to be effective at increasing school integration. Biden and Sanders both want to increase funding but Sanders is taking a more aggressive approach on racial integration and is likely to go after Biden using Biden’s many quotes opposing busing and government integration plans. (Interestingly, both Biden and Sanders are polling ahead of both Kamala Harris and Cory Booker with African American voters.) On school integration, Biden might have the upper hand.
