The Conservatives won around 16 seats, according to early polling results, compared to 12 seats for the NDP, 11 for the Liberals, two for the Greens, and one Independent. In 2015, by comparison, the Liberals won 17 of 42 ridings, followed by the NDP (14), Conservatives (10), and Greens (1). The Conservatives won a number of new seats in the province including in the riding of Pitt Meadows—Maple Ridge, where candidate Marc Dalton won over his Liberal opponent. But like in many previous elections the party’s support waned as Election Day neared, while the NDP slowly gained steam. The Conservatives were projected by 338 to win around 15 ridings this election, roughly in line with the final result.
