Jodhpur airport closed: IAF MiG-27 stuck on Jodhpur runway, airport closed till fighter jet removed from airstrip

NEW DELHI: The Jodhpur Airport has been closed for flights since Friday afternoon when an Indian Air Force (IAF) fighter plane's tyre burst while landing and then it got stuck on the runway. Airport authorities and IAF are trying to remove the plane from runway so that flights could resume to and from Jodhpur. Default, on this account, would render the clearances granted automatically invalid for operations of flights under summer schedule to IAF bases. "Schedule Indian carriers operate regular flights to about 20 defence airfields that have a civil enclave or passenger terminal. In this backdrop, the IAF has asked airlines to station aircraft removal kits and personnel to operate them at its airports.
