Good morning: Britain’s economic recovery from the Covid-19 crisis is at risk from a wave of companies cutting jobs in the autumn, according to a new survey. One in three companies is preparing to cut jobs by the end of next month, a quarterly poll by CIPD, the human resources body, and Adecco Group, a recruiter, found. The survey covers more than 2,000 employers and found that the proportion planning to cut jobs had risen from 22 per cent to 33 per cent over the past three months. The potential spike in job losses coincides with the end of the government’s furlough scheme in October, which has been paying 80 per cent of the wages of workers who otherwise may have been made redundant.
