The trust will be hosting University of York PhD researcher Jim Glazzard at the Kyle of Lochalsh Plock on Friday October 6. Participants at the event will be provided with a demonstration by Jim on how Vikings used to cast metal. During the demonstration, Jim will show how the artisans of the Viking Age went about converting scrap and imported silver into new forms such as ingots and simple jewellery. Jim has several decades of experience in replicating archaeological artefacts of the Viking Age, sold under the company name Asgard, which he co-founded in 2002.
