Jets Still Have One Hole To Fill On Offensive Line After Kelechi Osemele Trade

Mike Maccagnan couldn’t quite wait for free agency to get started, so he made an interesting move Sunday that he hopes will improve the Jets’ offensive line. Osemele will fill a hole left by the Jets’ now obvious decision to let left guard James Carpenter walk in unrestricted free agency. The Jets want their offensive line to open more holes this season after they finished 29th in the league in 2018 with only 4.0 yards per rushing attempt. But one of his least memorable trades came in 2016 when he acquired Denver left tackle Ryan Clady, also for a fifth-rounder, while getting a seventh-rounder back. With Osemele’s acquistion, the Jets appear to have four-fifths of their offensive line set, with guard Brian Winters and tackle Brandon Shell returning on the right side.
