WITH a charge to improve on the gains of previous councils, the Chancellor of Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo state, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion yesterday inaugurated the fifth Governing Council of the university. Represented by his son and former Edo state Governor Lucky Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin tasked the Prof. Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah headed council to further enhance the development of the nation’s premier private university to another level. Abdullah, a former Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria said that he understood the measure of responsibility that is upon the fifth council, noting that with the calibre of men and women in the fifth council, they will be able to accomplish the goals with the period of its assignment. He added: “The challenges of the university are not farfetched from the challenges of the country. Most of our universities are underfunded and they have to build the purpose of the university in tandem with international best practices and that is what will be challenging us as a council.
