Mr. Powell's hearing has ended. A series of hurdles remain before he is appointed the Fed chairman. Democrats are clearly worried about a shift in Mr. Powell's regulatory stance, and the possibility the Fed will shift too favorably toward Wall Street. When it comes to monetary policy, Mr. Powell signaled he intends to keep the current course for now. But since Mr. Powell was previously confirmed to the Fed by comfortable margins, he still seems likely to have a fairly easy road ahead.
