Jeremy Gan played key role in our success in Rio, says V Shem

KUALA LUMPUR: "I really don't know why he quit," was men's doubles shuttler Goh V Shem's response on the sudden resignation of national doubles coach Jeremy Gan. According to V Shem who also rose to No 1 in the world last year, Jeremy played a key role in helping the former Malaysian pair believe in themselves, and the silver medal in Rio was a testament of his coaching ability. "I just hope that no matter where he goes, he will have a successful coaching stint," added V Shem, who will partner Teo Ee Yi next at the French Open later this month. Since becoming coach in 2003, Jeremy was also pivotal in the success of former national mixed doubles duo Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying. In the absence of Jeremy, the men's doubles department will be under the guidance of newly promoted head coach Cheah Soon Kit and Rosman Razak.
