Jeremy Corbyn has put himself on a collision course with his own MPs today by declaring that he wants a general election before a second Brexit referendum. Asked if he backed going to the country before another Brexit poll, Mr Corbyn said: “The second referendum would be what we propose under a Labour government.”He had earlier kicked off Labour’s unofficial election campaign by declaring that the “first task” of a Labour government would be to get Brexit “sorted”. A Labour government would hold a Brexit referendum with two options “both agreed with the EU, no false promises, no bluster”, unlike in 2016, he said.
