The revival poses a grave threat, given their propensity for “spectacular attacks on security installations.”Meanwhile, Lashkar-e-Taiba chief Mehmood Shah described Tuesday’s attacks as a revenge against breaking into the houses of civilians and militants. He confirmed the police intelligence reports of attacks on Ramazan 17 “to commemorate the battle won by Prophet Muhammad 1,400 years ago.”Hizbul Mujahideen and Al-Umar have also claimed responsibility for the attacks. The heightened militant activity in south Kashmir is a cause for worry for the security establishment as J&K prepares for the Amarnath yatra in Pahalgam.
