Anthony Rendon won’t be meeting at the mound in Sunday’s game. Sunday, with a chance for a sweep behind Gio Gonzalez, Baker is resting left fielder Jayson Werth and third baseman Anthony Rendon. Without Stephen Drew around to spell him, Rendon had played 28 games in a row before Sunday. Yusmeiro Petit has not pitched since Colorado, either, but must be held in the case that a starter does not last long. Otherwise, the Nationals’ bullpen would be in real trouble.
