Blue Jays closer Ken Giles landed on the 10-day injured list with right elbow inflammation, one of several moves announced before Wednesday night’s game against the Orioles. Giles has a team-best 1.08 ERA in 25 innings and is one of Toronto’s best chances to land a big return on the market. The Jays promoted Canadian right-hander Jordan Romano in a corresponding move, and moved starter Clay Buchholz (shoulder) from the 10-day to the 60-day injured list to make room for the 26-year-old from Markham on the 40-man roster. Earlier, the Jays replaced scheduled starter Edwin Jackson with reliever-turned-opener Derek Law for Wednesday night’s game. The Jays had the opportunity to skip a starter with Monday’s off-day, but had decided to stick with Jackson until the late switch.
