Highlight moments have been few and far between in the Toronto Blue Jays’ young season, but it hasn’t been without a couple of the highlight reel-worthy catches Kevin Pillar is known for. There’s no denying that dependability in centre field is central to the team’s success, but it is not what Pillar focussed on coming into the season. He was concerned about becoming a more complete player, on becoming more adept at the plate. Heading into Toronto’s three-game series with Baltimore Orioles, Pillar was 7-for-29 and the only Jays player yet to record a strikeout on the season. Pillar only managed singles in his first seven hits of the season, before doubling in his first at-bat Thursday.
