The Jays had a starting outfield of Springer, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Teoscar Hernández. During Sunday’s series finale against the Red Sox, the Jays had a contact play on with Springer at the plate and Merrifield at third. Merrifield is performing well enough that he needs to be an everyday player in the post-season, at least initially.
