Jays’ Stroman exits early with undisclosed injury vs. Royals

Blue Jays right-hander Marcus Stroman left his start against the Kansas City Royals on Saturday with an apparent injury. Stroman called head athletic trainer Nikki Huffman to the mound after making two pitches, both balls, to Royals leadoff hitter Whit Merrifield in the fifth inning at the Rogers Centre. He left almost immediately, followed down the tunnel to the clubhouse by Huffman and pitching coach Pete Walker. He is considered one of the top trade targets in the majors with the trade deadline a month away. Stroman landed on the injured list twice in 2018, with shoulder fatigue in May and a middle finger blister in August.
