Jay Rodriguez was charged over alleged racist abuseWest Brom striker Jay Rodriguez has been granted an extension until March 9 to respond to his FA charge of using racist language, the governing body has announced. Rodriguez was charged by the FA last week after he allegedly "used abusive and/or insulting words which included a reference to ethnic origin and/or colour and/or race". Rodriguez was initially given until February 16 to respond to the charge. His legal team wanted more time to prepare their case and have struggled to find suitable appointments with their QC. West Brom have maintained their backing of Rodriguez and manager Alan Pardew has insisted he will still consider the player for selection.
