MIRI: The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department's Air Wing unit has successfully rescued a Japanese tourist who was injured while climbing Mount Mulu on Saturday (Dec 15) night. "The rescue team successfully winched him up from the site at Mount Mulu and the helicopter has flown him to Miri Hospital," said Supt LawThe Star saw the helicopter touch down at Miri Hospital landing pad at about 840am. The first aerial rescue mission had to be aborted at 3.30 pm Monday (Dec 17) afternoon due to low visibility. Akihiro fell at Camp 4 of Mount Mulu and the Air Wing Unit in Miri was alerted to the incident by the Marudi Fire and Rescue Department station. Marudi is the closest Fire and Rescue Department station to Mulu.
