TOKYO, May 31, 2023 (BSS/AFP) - Japan briefly activated its missile alert warning system for the Okinawa region on Wednesday morning after South Korea's military said North Korea had launched what it called a "space launch vehicle". The launch initially prompted the activation of a missile warning system for the southern region. "Missile launch. Missile launch. Please take shelters inside buildings or underground," said the alert tweeted by the prime minister's office and carried on national broadcaster NHK.
