TOKYO - Japan and the United States seek to "exert maximum pressure" on North Korea after the country's sixth nuclear test, Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono and US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson agreed in a telephone call on Monday. After the call, Kono told reporters that the US and Japan want an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council to be held to discuss potential fresh sanctions against Pyongyang, according to Japanese media reports. Kono did not elaborate about what sort of sanctions are envisaged. In a phone call between Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and South Korean President Moon Jae both expressed their support for a new Security Council resolution, according to media reports.
