A high alert has been sounded across the Jammu region ahead of Independence Day with security forces and police launching combing operations after receiving reports about the sighting of terrorists in some areas. Meanwhile, at Sawjian in Poonch, searches and cordon by Army troops were in progress. This has been the first major infiltration attempt by terrorists from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir into the border Poonch district this year. Pakistan has also warned India of a possible terror strike by the Fazal Ullah group of Tehreek-e-Taliban on the Wagah border during Independence Day celebrations. Meanwhile, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Jammu, and the local edition of Amar Ujala here have received a letter titled “ISIS 15”, threatening of blasts in several areas of Jammu.
